- Defense & Conscious Persuasion: Becoming aware of persuasion means reclaiming your freedom.
We’ve explored the six psychological triggers of influence. Now it’s time to turn the spotlight inward: How do you defend yourself from manipulation, and how can you use persuasion responsibly? Let’s close the loop on Influence with awareness, ethics, and empowerment. How to Recognize When You’re Being Influenced Influence is everywhere, from marketing campaigns to everyday conversations. But once you know the patterns, you start seeing them in action: Reciprocity: “Take this free gift!” → You feel obligated to give back. Scarcity: “Only 3 spots left!” → You feel urgency. Authority: “Experts agree…” → You feel trust without questioning. Liking: “They’re just like me.” → You feel a connection. The first defense is naming the trigger . When you can label what’s happening (“Ah, that’s reciprocity”), you disrupt the automatic “click, whirr” response. Awareness creates choice. “The best defense against manipulation is knowledge.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Next time you feel pressured to buy or agree, pause. Ask: Which influence principle is being used here? How to Slow Down Automatic Responses Cialdini showed that we often act automatically when certain buttons are pressed, like polite robots. To slow down those reflexes: Pause before reacting: That split second gives your rational brain time to catch up. Ask why: Why am I saying yes? Is it because I truly want this, or because I feel I “should”? Separate emotion from logic: Urgency, guilt, flattery, all influence levers. Step back and breathe. Use the 24-hour rule: For big decisions, wait a day. Most manipulative offers lose their grip when time passes. “Automatic influence is the shortcut. Conscious choice is the skill.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Choose 1 decision this week to slow down , just pause, reflect, and notice how your reasoning shifts. Using Persuasion for Good Influence isn’t the enemy. In fact, it’s one of the most powerful tools for good, when used with integrity. Ethical persuasion means aligning influence with mutual benefit: In business: Use reciprocity to give genuine value before asking for a sale. In relationships: Use commitment and consistency to build trust, not control. In leadership: Use authority to guide, not dominate. In marketing: Use scarcity and social proof honestly, never to deceive. True persuasion doesn’t manipulate, it inspires voluntary agreement. “Ethical influence is about creating win-win outcomes.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Identify one area where you can apply influence positively , whether in communication, sales, or leadership. Building Ethical Influence in Your Own Life or Brand Cialdini’s research reveals a deeper truth: persuasion isn’t about control; it’s about connection. If you want to influence others ethically: Be transparent. Hidden motives destroy trust. Deliver real value. The best persuasion is proof of benefit. Practice empathy. Understand the needs, fears, and desires of others. Lead by example. Authority built on authenticity is unshakable. Your brand, personal or business, becomes magnetic when influence feels genuine, not forced. “People prefer to say yes to those they know, like, and trust — especially when that trust is earned.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Audit your messaging or actions. Does it serve mutual benefit, or just self-interest? Last Thoughts: Persuasion surrounds us, but awareness gives us the power to choose. You can’t escape influence, but you can master how it affects you and how you use it . The true goal isn’t to resist every persuasive attempt, it’s to participate consciously. To say yes when it aligns with your values, and no when it doesn’t. That’s real freedom. You now know how persuasion works and how to use it consciously. Apply it with integrity. Lead with empathy. Influence with purpose. “The truly free person is one who chooses their influences.” – Robert B. Cialdini → This week, notice the influence triggers around you : in ads, emails, or conversations. Awareness is your superpower. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Influence Triggers: Liking, Authority & Scarcity
We’ve explored how reciprocity, commitment, and social proof shape our decisions. Now it’s time to explore the remaining 3 that Cialdini describes as some of the most powerful levers of human behavior: Liking, Authority, and Scarcity. These forces shape your choices every day, from sales calls to politics to your Instagram feed. Often, without you realizing it… Liking: The Power of Connection We are more likely to say yes to people we like, I know, sounds obvious, but liking comes from surprisingly consistent triggers, not just family or friendship bonds: Similarity : We trust those who look, act, or think like us. Compliments : Even small, genuine praise disarms skepticism. Familiarity : Repeated exposure makes people and ideas feel safer. Marketers, leaders, and even scam artists know this well. Think of influencers: their entire business model is built on relatability and likeability, a lot of times engineered and not sincere. But used authentically, liking is about building genuine rapport. You don’t have to manipulate; Just find real common ground, listen, and show respect. “People prefer to say yes to individuals they know and like.” – Robert Cialdini → Notice one time this week when you agreed with someone because you liked them , not because of the strength of their argument. Authority: The Voice of Expertise We are wired to respect authority figures. Uniforms, titles, credentials, they all push our automatic yes button. Even just a confident tone of voice on the internet can make us defer without question. Research showed people obey instructions from perceived experts, even if they wouldn’t normally comply. That’s why ads feature doctors in lab coats, why we tend to accept advice from someone “senior,” and why “expert-approved” carries weight. But here’s the risk: perceived authority isn’t always real authority. A confident voice doesn’t equal truth. Authentic authority comes from knowledge, experience, and trustworthiness, not just symbols. Use this principle responsibly: if you’ve built real expertise, signal it clearly. If you’re on the receiving end, pause before accepting something just because it looks authoritative. “Follow the guidance of genuine authorities but question the legitimacy of false ones.” – Robert Cialdini → Next time you see a product endorsed by an “expert,” ask: Is this authority credible… or just dressed up to look that way? Scarcity: The Fear of Missing Out We want what we think we can’t have, and because of that, scarcity creates urgency. It’s why “only 3 left” or “offer ends tonight” messages are so powerful. Psychology proves that limited availability makes things more desirable, even if nothing else changes, because scarcity taps into survival instincts: if something is scarce, our brain screams, “act now before it’s gone.” But here’s the issue: most of the time, the scarcity is manufactured. True value doesn’t come with a countdown timer. It does not need one… You can use scarcity ethically (for example, when your offer really is limited), but don’t let fake scarcity drive your choices. Especially because these days, it’s everywhere! “Opportunities seem more valuable when their availability is limited.” – Robert Cialdini → The next time you feel pressured by a “last chance” offer, pause. Ask: Do I really want this, or do I just not want to miss out? Why This Matters These levers are not inherently bad. Used ethically, they help ideas spread and decisions get made. But without awareness, they control us. When you recognize liking, authority, and scarcity at work, you gain freedom: the power to choose intentionally, not react automatically. Last Thoughts: Liking, Authority, and Scarcity are 3 powerful forces that run beneath the surface of your daily decisions. The key is not to fear them, but to be aware of them. Once you see the levers, you can choose to use them authentically to connect, influence, and lead or protect yourself from being unconsciously swayed by them. Together with the first three principles, you now have the full framework of Cialdini’s Weapons of Influence. Next week, we’ll wrap it up with practical integration : how to apply all six principles ethically in your business, career, and life, without manipulation. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Reality Check: The First 3 Principles of Influence You’re Swimming In
Last week, we uncovered how most of our decisions run on autopilot. This week, we’re diving into the first three psychological levers that quietly shape what we buy, say, and even believe: Reciprocity, Commitment & Consistency, and Social Proof. These aren’t abstract theories. They’re the rules of the game. And once you see them, you’ll start noticing them everywhere. Reciprocity – The Rule of Giving & Receiving Humans are wired to return favors. Someone gives you something like a compliment, a free sample, or a favor, and you feel the subtle pull to give something back. Marketers know this well. Ever been handed a “free” sample at a store and suddenly felt bad leaving without buying? That’s reciprocity in action. Cialdini points out that this rule is so deeply ingrained that we’ll often reciprocate even when we didn’t ask for the favor in the first place. What to do with this insight: Notice when you’re being nudged. Are you genuinely interested, or are you just paying off an invisible debt? Use it ethically. First, give value, help, and kindness in your business, relationships, or work. Then watch reciprocity build trust naturally. “The rule for reciprocity is so strong that it can overwhelm the influence of other factors.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Small Task: Give genuine value to someone this week (a helpful resource, a kind word, a useful intro) with no expectation of return. Commitment & Consistency – The Pressure to Stay Aligned Once we commit, publicly or even internally, we feel compelled to stay consistent. This is why companies ask you to sign small petitions, click “Yes” to a quiz result, or take a micro-action first. Once you say “yes” once, you’re more likely to say “yes” again. Cialdini notes this is also why we double down on bad decisions. We want to appear consistent, to ourselves and to others, so we justify, defend, and stick with something long after it stops serving us. What to do with this insight: Check your commitments. Are you doing something just because you said yes once? Leverage it for growth. Make small, public commitments to habits or goals you actually want to stick to. “Once we have made a choice or taken a stand, we will encounter personal and interpersonal pressures to behave consistently with that commitment.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Small Task: Make one tiny public commitment this week — tell a friend you’ll write for 10 minutes a day, or share your goal online. Social Proof – When We Look to Others to Decide We’re social creatures. When we’re unsure what to do, we look around: What are others doing? This is why testimonials, reviews, and “bestseller” tags work so well. They shortcut decision-making by signaling safety. Cialdini highlights that social proof is especially powerful when: Uncertainty is high (you don’t know what to do) Many others are doing it (the crowd effect) People like you are doing it (peer effect). What to do with this insight: Be aware when you’re following the crowd blindly, pause and ask: Is this right for me ? Use it ethically. Share your wins, testimonials, or case studies to help others make better decisions. “We view a behavior as more correct in a given situation to the degree that we see others performing it.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Small Task: Notice one ad, post, or product this week that uses social proof, likes, reviews, popularity claims, and ask: would I choose this if I didn’t see that signal? Last Thoughts: The real power of this edition? Awareness. These three principles are everywhere, in ads, in sales pages, in your inbox, and even in your relationships. They’re not bad on their own, but they can lead you to decisions you never consciously made. When you see reciprocity, commitment, and social proof in action, you get to pause and ask: Is this what I want — or just what I was nudged into wanting? Next week, we’ll explore the remaining three principles: Liking, Authority, and Scarcity, and why they can be both your biggest advantage and your biggest blind spot. The goal: You stay in the driver’s seat. P.S. Remember, all the previous editions are available anytime on the online vault. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Influence | Part 1: The Psychology of Persuasion
Persuasion isn’t just something used by advertisers, salespeople, or politicians. It’s happening all the time . In conversations, on social media, even in your own mind, when you talk yourself into (or out of) something. Robert Cialdini’s Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion is a modern classic because it reveals the hidden levers that move human behavior. And here’s the truth: once you see them, you can’t unsee them. This edition kicks off a four-part series where we’ll unpack these levers, not so you can manipulate others, but so you can protect yourself from manipulation and use persuasion ethically to create positive change. Let’s start with the foundation. Why Persuasion Matters Most of our decisions aren’t made through slow, rational thinking. We run on autopilot most of the time, using mental shortcuts that help us process information quickly. Marketers, negotiators, influencers, and even friends can trigger these shortcuts to get us to say “yes.” Cialdini calls these triggers weapons of influence . Powerful psychological cues that set off automatic behaviors, like pressing a button. Understanding these “buttons” means: You recognize when someone is trying to push yours, and you can use them consciously to make your own ideas more compelling . “Automatic, stereotyped behavior is prevalent in much of human action because in many cases it is the most efficient form of behaving, and in other cases it is simply necessary.” – Robert B. Cialdini Click, Whirr: The Automatic Response Cialdini uses the metaphor click, whirr to describe how humans often behave, meaning: Click: A trigger is pressed. Whirr: The pre-programmed behavior starts playing. Example: Trigger: Someone gives you a free sample. Automatic Response: You feel compelled to give something back — maybe by buying the product. This isn’t bad by itself. These shortcuts save time and mental energy. But they can also be exploited, and in the world we live in, they are. “The real treachery, and the one we must guard against, is not that others are using these weapons of influence, but that we are sometimes unaware that they exist.” – Robert B. Cialdini → Catch one of your own “click, whirr” moments today. Notice when you act automatically (say “yes,” click buy, nod along) and pause for a beat before responding. The Six Weapons of Influence We’ll dive into each of these in the next editions, but here’s the roadmap: Reciprocity – We feel obligated to return favors. Commitment & Consistency – We act in ways that match what we’ve already said or done. Social Proof – We look to others to decide what’s correct. Liking – We say yes to people we know and like. Authority – We follow credible experts. Scarcity – We want what’s rare or “running out”. This first step is simply recognizing that these levers exist and that they can run your life if you stay unaware. “Very often we don’t realize that our behavior is being shaped by these principles until after the fact — if at all.” – Robert B. Cialdini Your Action Step Start your Persuasion Awareness Journal . Awareness is the first step to freedom. “A well-informed mind is the best security against the contagion of folly and the luxury of deception.” – Joseph Addison → For one week, write down every time you notice one of these triggers. Ads, emails, influencers, coworkers, notice who’s pressing which button. Ask: Did it work on me? How did I feel? Last Thoughts: This isn’t about becoming skeptical of everything. It’s about becoming conscious .When you see how persuasion works, you get to choose: Do I really want to say yes to this? Or am I just running a pre-programmed response? Next week, we’ll dig into the first three principles : reciprocity, commitment/consistency, and social proof. So you can see them in action and learn to use them responsibly. “The truly dangerous thing is not that we are influenced, but that we are often unaware of it.” – Robert B. Cialdini The goal: you control your choices, not the triggers. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Essential Insights for Personal Growth and Success
We all want growth. We all want success. But here’s the truth: it’s not about hacks, luck, or even talent. It’s about the small, essential insights you actually practice daily. These are timeless, tested principles that separate drifting from thriving. Embrace a Growth Mindset Success isn’t about avoiding mistakes. It’s about learning faster than others. A growth mindset means you see challenges as lessons, not roadblocks. Every failure is simply feedback on what to improve next. And I know, I talk about this a looot, but is that important. “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” – Henry Ford → Next time something goes wrong, ask: What is this teaching me? Self-Awareness as the Foundation You can’t change what you don’t see. Read that again. Just like mistakes, blind spots are just part of being human, we all have them, our whole life. But if we pay attention to them and question ourselves, we have a lot to gain. Journaling, meditation, or even asking for honest feedback helps you uncover patterns, strengths, and your personal blind spots. Self-awareness is the mirror you need to grow. “The unexamined life is not worth living.” – Socrates → Write down one recurring thought or habit today. Observe it without judgment. The Power of Daily Habits Big wins come from tiny steps done consistently. Just like athletes do. Habits compound like interest. You only need time and repetition. Want to grow? Stack a new habit onto an existing one. Example : after brushing your teeth, write one sentence in a journal. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle → Choose one small habit today. Commit for 30 days. Resilience & Adaptability Resilience isn’t just about keeping going and “bouncing back.” It’s also about “bouncing forward”, turning setbacks into setups. Adaptability makes sure you’re not stuck fighting old battles in a new game. Life will knock you down. What matters is how you rise. And the more you fall, the more easily you’ll get back up in even better shape. “It’s not the strongest of the species that survive, but the most adaptable.” – Charles Darwin → Reframe one recent setback: how could it serve you instead of stop you? Seek Continuous Learning Stagnation is the enemy of success. More of the same does not get you to a different place. That’s why the most successful people are lifelong learners. Books, courses, mentors, the medium doesn’t matter, and you can get a lot of these for free, so no excuses. What matters is curiosity. When you stop learning, you start decaying. “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” – Gandhi → Pick one book, podcast, or course this week to expand your perspective. Build Emotional Intelligence IQ might open doors, but EQ keeps them open. Emotional intelligence is about managing yourself and understanding others. Recognizing emotions (yours and theirs) builds stronger relationships, smoother communication, and better leadership. Don’t devalue it because it also leads to better deals with good people. “It is very important to understand that emotional intelligence is not the opposite of intelligence, it is not the triumph of heart over head, it is the unique intersection of both.” – David Caruso → Pause once today before reacting emotionally. Ask: What’s really going on here? Set Clear Intentions & Priorities Intentions are the compass; priorities are the path. Without them, you’ll spend years climbing a ladder that belongs to someone else. If you don’t define success for yourself, society will. Don’t just go along with the “regular” idea of success, find your version of freedom. “He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.” – Nietzsche → Write down your top 3 priorities for this month. Cut out what doesn’t fit. The Role of Environment You don’t rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems and environment. If you really can’t change your environment right now, that should be your priority on the way to freedom. If you want growth, and a different outcome, create an environment that makes the right choice the easy one and surround yourself with people who lift, not drain. “Environment is stronger than willpower.” – Paramahansa Yogananda → Audit your environment: What one change can you make to support your growth? Take Responsibility, Not Blame Blame is powerless. Responsibility is freedom. In 99% of situations, there’s always something you could have done differently, at least a couple of alternatives that would have led to a different situation. When you take ownership of your actions and results, you gain the power to change them. And this is not to push you down or have you beat yourself down about it, is just about learning and improving with each experience. Responsibility is not self-criticism; it’s self-leadership. “The price of greatness is responsibility.” – Winston Churchill → Identify one area of your life where you’ve been blaming instead of owning. Shift today. Practice Gratitude & Presence Gratitude is not just about feeling good, it rewires your brain to see abundance instead of lack, while it also changes you from the inside out in incredible ways. Presence keeps you from chasing the future or reliving the past. Growth only happens in the moment, and gratitude can be felt in every moment. “Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” And don’t get me wrong, gratitude for what you have doesn’t mean you can’t want more. → Before bed, list 3 things you’re grateful for today. Last Thoughts: Personal growth and success are not mysteries. They’re daily choices. Growth mindset. Habits. Self-awareness. Resilience. Gratitude. The more consistently you practice these, the more they become who you are. Success isn’t something you chase, it’s something you embody. And when you do, opportunities find you. So here’s your path forward. Because success isn’t built in a day, but it is built daily. → Choose one of these ten insights to focus on this week. Just one. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Break Free from the 9-5 | Use These Strategies
The 9-to-5 grind promises security, but often delivers a forced routine, dependency, and a limited life. Besides that, nothing is 100% safe or guaranteed anyway… Freedom isn’t about recklessness, it’s about design. Breaking free doesn’t mean quitting overnight. It means building skills, systems, and strategies that let you take back control of your time, your income, and your choices. Here’s how to start creating a life that’s yours, not your employer’s. Shift from Employee to Owner Mindset Employees trade time for money. Owners trade value for freedom. Instead of selling the hours of your day, aka the hours of your life, you sell a service or a product for a price. Preferably something that sells itself again and again, so you work once and monetize infinitely. And yes, sometimes, especially at first, it can take more time or more investment than what you charge at the beginning, but everything has a cost, and over time and sales, it will become 100% profit. The first step is internal: stop asking “how can I earn more per hour?” and start asking “how can I create something that works when I’m not working?” Do you prefer to pay a little now, bet on yourself, and be set for a life of freedom, or do you want to stay still, wait and see, just to pay later and worse when you’re old? “Work hard once. Get paid forever.” → Write down one skill or asset you could create that continues to bring value without you clocking in. Create a Side Income Stream Start small. Don’t think about what you need to learn or the work that may take. Assess yourself first, calmly, and see where you can start. My personal recommendations based on ease are freelancing, digital products, online services, or even niche e-commerce, according to your life and skills. The goal isn’t overnight millions, it’s proving to yourself that money can flow from outside your paycheck. “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Martin Luther King Jr. → Brainstorm three side income ideas. Choose one to research or test this week. Build Scalable Income A side hustle that eats all your time isn’t freedom, it’s just another job. There are tons of options for side hustles, but some are more scalable than others. Almost any side hustle can become a huge business, don’t get me wrong, but how big and fast do you want to go? Think about it this way: A freelance designer can only work with a handful of clients at once. But a designer who creates Canva templates or a design course can sell them to thousands without extra hours. Same skill. Different model. Completely different level of freedom. “Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better.” – Jim Rohn →If you have a skill, think of one way to package it for multiple people at once. Develop Location & Time Freedom Skills Some skills travel anywhere: marketing, sales, design, writing, coding, consulting. Master one, and you can earn from anywhere, without begging for vacation days. Even a couple of weeks ago, I traveled south and divided my days between the beach, family time, and work every day. No complaints here, freedom tops it all. “A skill is portable wealth.” – Naval Ravikant → Pick a high-demand skill. Commit to 30 minutes a day learning or practicing it. Cut Lifestyle Handcuffs The more you owe, the less you own your time, and this isn’t about deprivation, it’s about removing anchors that keep you chained to a paycheck. Lower fixed expenses = higher freedom. Every dollar you’re not obligated to spend is a dollar you can redirect toward freedom—whether that’s savings, investments, or simply having the choice to walk away from a toxic job. “The things you own end up owning you.” – Fight Club → Identify one recurring expense you can downgrade or cancel this week. Network Outside Your Industry Coworkers talk about promotions. Entrepreneurs talk about opportunities. Expand your circle, you’ll absorb new ways of thinking, working, and earning. If your circle is made up only of people who think in terms of climbing the ladder, you’ll naturally focus on the same. But step outside that bubble, and you’ll discover entirely new games being played. Games where freedom, creativity, and ownership matter more than job titles. “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” – Jim Rohn → Reach out to one entrepreneur or creator this week. Learn what freedom looks like for them. Automate & Delegate You don’t need to do everything. Use automation tools and outsourcing to remove repetitive work. Some recommendations: For automation: Mint or YNAB – automatic expense tracking & budgeting; Google Calendar + Calendly – automate meetings without back-and-forth emails; Buffer or Later – schedule social media posts once, publish everywhere. For delegation: Fiverr / Upwork – hire freelancers for design, writing, admin, or tech tasks; OnlineJobs.ph – great for finding long-term virtual assistants; TaskRabbit – outsource small personal chores. Every task you free = more time to build your freedom path. “If you don’t have an assistant, you are the assistant.” – Tim Ferriss → Choose one task you can automate (like bill pay) or delegate (like design work). Design Your Exit Plan Quitting without a plan is panic. Quitting with a roadmap is power. Outline your savings cushion (3–6+ months of living expenses), your skills (what you can already monetize), your income streams (Identify at least 2 income sources you can start building now), and a realistic timeline (Freedom isn’t overnight, it’s phased). Also, you need a Contingency Plan . Ask yourself: “What’s my plan B if plan A takes longer?” Having a fallback option reduces fear and keeps you moving Freedom doesn’t happen by accident, it happens by design. “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry → Draft your “freedom roadmap”: how much you need saved + how you’ll replace your salary. Practice Mini-Freedoms First You don’t need to leap into the unknown, you can test it first. Try remote work days in and outside your home, short sabbaticals (1-3 months), or working from a new location for a couple of days. Build confidence in your ability to adapt. “Freedom is nothing else but a chance to be better.” – Albert Camus → Plan one “mini-freedom” this month. A day, a weekend, or even a work-from-anywhere experiment. Last Thoughts: Breaking free isn’t about hating jobs, it’s about loving freedom more. Every step you take, earning differently, thinking differently, designing differently, moves you closer to autonomy. Remember: you don’t have to wait until retirement to own your time. Freedom isn’t a someday thing. It’s built today, in small steps, with intention. The 9-5 is one option. Now you know the alternatives. → Ask yourself: What small freedom can I claim today that brings me closer to the life I want tomorrow? See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Your freedom plan, step-by-step: Achieve Financial Freedom with Proven Strategies
Financial freedom isn’t a far-off dream. I’m proof of it. It’s built from clear, simple steps that compound into independence. No hacks, no magic tricks, just proven strategies anyone can follow with patience and resilience. Let’s walk through the pillars that move you from surviving… to thriving. 1| Budget with Purpose A budget is not a prison, it’s how you manage money with intention. Meaning is a must, so if you think it’s boring or restrictive, you need to change your mindset around budgeting, or you’ll struggle. When every dollar has a job (aka working for you), you stop wondering “where did my money go?” and start telling it “where to go” in advance. That’s how you own your money instead of your money owning you. Align your spending with your values. If travel brings you joy, budget for it, if debt drags you down, aim your budget at it like a laser. “A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” — Dave Ramsey → Write down your top 3 values. Check if your last 5 purchases reflect them. 2| Build an Emergency Fund Another must, think of this as your financial shock absorber because life happens (layoffs, medical bills, car repairs, etc.) Without a buffer, debt fills the gap, grows, and that never ends well. Just start small with €500 or less, but start, stay consistent, and compound. Then build to 3–6 months of living expenses and experience peace of mind . And that is priceless. “Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.” — Warren Buffett → Open a separate savings account and transfer €50 this week. 3| Kill High-Interest Debt First Debt is a reverse investment. Credit cards and payday loans quietly eat your freedom with 20%+ interest while killing your choices. Eliminating them is like giving yourself a guaranteed return and ensuring a better, prosperous future. Contrary to budgeting, debt is indeed a prison… “Interest never sleeps nor sickens nor dies.” — Benjamin Franklin → List all debts, order them by interest rate, and target the highest one with extra payments. 4| Automate Saving & Investing Your future shouldn’t rely on willpower or on you remembering to save. Set up automatic transfers into savings, retirement accounts, or brokerage accounts. When you “pay yourself first,” freedom becomes a monthly habit, not a someday wish. On top of that, it builds your future freedom, and it’s just awesome. My paycheck used to be what was left after tax. Now, I get all the money, and then, set aside the tax part. It might seem irrelevant, but the experience is totally different. “Don’t save what is left after spending; spend what is left after saving.” — Warren Buffett → Automate at least 5% of your income into a savings or investment account. 5| Invest for the Long Term Wealth is built slowly, then suddenly. Stocks, index funds, real estate, the vehicles vary, but the principle stays: consistent investing + time = compounding. Patience, consistency, and resiliency take you far. “The stock market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient.” — Warren Buffett → If you’ve never invested, research index funds today. If you already invest, check if you can increase contributions by 1–2%. 6| Live Below Your Means (But Not Below Your Joy) Frugality isn’t deprivation. It’s an intentional design. The trap isn’t overspending once, that’s irrelevant long term. The problem is lifestyle inflation, so please avoid the cycle of earning more, spending more, and staying stuck. We all have that friend who can double or triple their paycheck, and still, when the rainy day arrives, they don’t have an umbrella and get wet. Spend where it counts, cut where it doesn’t. “Too many people spend money they earned to buy things they don’t want to impress people they don’t like.” — Will Rogers → Cancel one subscription you don’t use. Redirect that money to savings. 7| Leverage Skills into Higher Income Saving is only half the game. Earning more accelerates everything. Negotiate salaries, change companies, take courses, pivot careers, etc. Your skills are your greatest income multiplier. “The best investment you can make is in yourself.” — Warren Buffett → Identify one skill to improve this month that would raise your value at work or in business. 8| Protect Wealth with Insurance & Smart Planning Freedom isn’t just about growing wealth, it’s about keeping it. Unexpected illness, accidents, or even poor planning can undo years of progress. Insurance, wills, and estate planning are part of the strategy. And yes, some of these things, like insurance, can be costly, so personally, do the math first. Not all assets and investments are worth the extra cost right away. “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” — Benjamin Franklin → Review your health, disability, and life coverage. Update your beneficiary info if needed. 9| Focus on Financial Independence, Not Just Retirement Retirement at 65 is too small a vision… Mostly because who knows how you're going to be at that age, physically and mentally, if you can enjoy it, if you’re going to be alive even, so don’t wait and don’t count on it. Financial independence means choice and control, whether you keep working, start a business, or move abroad with a side hustle. The goal isn’t to stop working. It’s to never have to work. “Financial freedom is freedom from fear.” — Robert Kiyosaki → Write down what your ideal “financially free” life looks like in 5–10 years. Last Thoughts: These strategies aren’t theory. They’re the bricks of financial freedom. Budgeting, saving, investing, earning, protecting, each one stacks until you’ve built a life of choice, where you are in control, and pretty much prepared for everything. And you don’t do it all in one day, so just begin. One step compounds into many. Freedom is built. And now, you know how to start. → Choose one strategy above and take action this week. Your future self is waiting. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Financial Literacy: Master the Basics
Learning financial literacy is like learning a new language on your own since schools don’t teach it, but don’t despair, it’s not that hard... it is needed. If you don’t understand the basics, money can feel intimidating, confusing, and often even out of reach. But once you know the essentials, you gain the power to make money work for you instead of against you. This is not about becoming a financial expert overnight. It’s about learning the ABCs of money so you can read, write, and eventually create your own story of financial freedom. Know Where Your Money Goes Most people lose track of at least 20–30% of their income each month. Not because they’re careless, but because they’re not paying attention. Which is not super easy or intuitive to do in this crazy, busy, and loud world we live in, but… …financial literacy begins with awareness. When you track your income and expenses, you see patterns, where you overspend, where you undersave, and where small adjustments could make a big difference, just by paying attention and doing some basic math. “What gets measured gets managed.” – Peter Drucker Advanced tip: Start budgeting your money monthly, before the start of every month. This way, you don’t look for where you spend your money; You decide exactly where you are going to spend it in the future. Spending, yes, but with intention, always. And this budget should include everything: the expenses you know you have, investments you want to make, the money you want to save, and also some surprise and miscellaneous expenses or issues that may show up. In my country, we have a saying: “A woman forewarned is worth two” and I live by that. → This week, write down every expense for 7 days. Even the coffee. Especially the coffee. You’ll be surprised by what you find. Understand Assets vs. Liabilities There are infinite ways to spend money, and all fall into these 2 categories. An asset puts money in your pocket. A liability takes money out. Your car? Liability. Your Netflix subscription? Liability. Your investment account? Asset. Even an investment in a house, if you don’t profit from it, it’s still a liability… Once you start seeing money through this lens, you stop asking “Can I afford this?” and start asking “Does this build or drain my wealth?” And by this time, you are probably realizing that 90% of the ways you can spend your money are liabilities… True, and there’s nothing we can do about that. Our power is in the choices we make, not in changing how the world works. “The rich buy assets. The poor only have expenses. The middle class buys liabilities they think are assets.” – Robert Kiyosaki → Write down 3 things you own. Label each one as an asset or a liability. Be honest. Good Debt vs. Bad Debt Debt isn’t the enemy; Ignorance about debt is. Bad debt: High-interest consumer spending (credit cards, payday loans, financing gadgets, etc). Good debt: Used to build wealth (education, property, business investments). When you know the difference, you can use debt as a lever, not a trap. To avoid bad debt, live below your means. Makes 0 sense to spend money you don’t have and don’t know how to make… To avoid bad debt, live below your means. Makes 0 sense to spend money you don’t have and don’t know how to make… Also, I know I said this before, but only a few people can properly and beneficially use debt in a good way; Most of us can’t. And don’t get me wrong, if you use credit cards, that’s fine, just don’t forget to pay what you need when you need to. Here’s a tip: If you need to get into debt, you've already lost. Debt is a tool for people who don’t need that money; They just use it as extra cash, to keep developing and expanding their investments and assets. “It’s not debt that’s dangerous. It’s debt without education.” – Dave Ramsey → List all your current debts. Circle the ones that are “bad debt” and create a plan to pay those off first. The Power of Saving & Investing Early Saving builds security. Investing builds wealth. Both are literacy cornerstones. The earlier you start, the more compound interest works in your favor. Think of compound growth as “money having babies”, and those babies having more babies. Time is the multiplier. And if you did not start super young (I didn’t), you’re not gonna compound enough money when you're still super young, but it’s still worth it. Especially with crypto and bonds instead of safe bank investments. Just for you to have an idea, 5k in 2 years in a safe back investment made me 200€, and I could not access that money during that time vs 3k in 1 year in several crypto investments made me 1k, and I can access the money anytime. “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it… he who doesn’t, pays it.” – Albert Einstein → Open a savings or investment account (if you don’t already have one) and set up an automatic transfer of even €25/month. Protect Yourself Financial literacy isn’t just about growth; It’s also about protection. Life will throw curveballs, that’s guaranteed. An emergency fund, proper insurance, and a plan for risk management create resilience. Don’t ignore rainy days. They happen to everyone. Get informed and take action. Even if you win the lottery, if you don’t know how to manage, save, and grow money, you will likely lose it all in a couple of years, as most lottery winners… “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” – Benjamin Franklin →Start an emergency fund with a small amount — even €100. Commit to building it to cover 3 months of expenses over time. Last Thoughts: Financial literacy is the foundation of financial freedom. Without it, you’re guessing. With it, you’re in control. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela The key isn’t to do everything perfectly right away. It’s to start small, build awareness, layer knowledge, and adjust action as you go. Your financial education is the weapon that will change your world. Do this, and you’re not just learning the language of money, you’re learning to write your own story of freedom. → Track your money. Learn assets vs. liabilities. Respect debt. Start saving. Protect yourself. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Reality Transurfing, Final Cut: How to Reclaim Your Power and Create on Purpose
You don’t have to fight reality to change it. But if you don’t learn how it works, it will shape you instead. Everything you see is a reflection. But what if the world isn’t reflecting what you want, only what you fear, expect, or focus on? This is where your energy, intention, and vision stop being abstract… and start shaping the world around you. It’s time we stop reacting and start remembering who we actually are, creators, not puppets. If You Don’t Shape Reality, It Shapes You Life doesn’t wait for you to “figure it out.” If you don’t lead, reality will. Even other people will lead you, and not in your favor. The world is full of systems and pendulums ready to pull you into autopilot. They’ll hand you a script and clap when you read your lines… but it won’t be your story. We not robots anymore! We often think control equals pressure. But Zeland flips it. He says true control comes from clarity, not force. The power to shape your life isn’t about controlling everything, that’s impossible. It’s about not handing the control of your actions to someone or something else. “But you yourself must not distinguish your victory from your defeat” - B. Pasternak → Ask: Am I living my script… or someone else’s? Give Yourself Permission to Be Free Boredom isn’t real. It’s a signal. A craving to create, to move, to shape reality. — This makes sooo much sense. Boredom makes creativity alive and vibrant! Every time <3 But most people suppress it. They follow the Pendulum Rule: “Do as I do.” Be agreeable. Be productive. Be safe. But Transurfing rules: Be yourself. Fully. And allow others to do the same. This dismantles polarization. When you stop resisting others’ views and behaviors, you release emotional energy. That energy returns to you, free, clean, yours. But be warned: society teaches you to want what it wants you to want. To escape, you must give yourself full permission to create your own game. Don’t conform out of fear or boredom. Create for the joy of it. Permission is your gateway to power. “My world and I are going for a walk” → Ask: Where am I following the rules out of fear, not freedom? You Are the Creator. Not the Pawn. We’ve all been taught how to “see” reality, what’s possible, what’s not, what’s safe. But that perception isn’t fixed. It’s learned. So Zeland invites us to stop starring in the play and walk into the audience. Watch. Observe. Dis-identify. Rent yourself out. That’s when something wild happens: you stop taking the script so seriously, step back and you remember you’re the author. He goes deeper, too. He says the gift of God to every living being is freedom and the power to shape reality according to consciousness. Your gift is consciousness. Your responsibility is creation. I don’t need to ask, beg, or force. Just need to imagine, observe, and create, with love, with clarity, and with freedom. And I want the same for you <3 “I take care of my world.” → Ask: What do I want to create just because I can? The Mirror World – Reflect, Don’t React Reality is not instant. It’s a mirror with a time delay. Your thoughts, expectations, and energy reflect back to you but not immediately, eventually. So when you fixate on what’s missing, broken, or feared… guess what the mirror reflects? Yap… You can’t force the mirror to smile first. You have to smile first, internally. With thought. With vision. With the calm certainty of what’s already yours. I’ll do it while looking at myself in the mirror with love and smiling of course <3 Focus on the end result, not the fear. Let your attention follow the version of you who’s already arrived. And when problems show up, don’t suppress your emotions, just shift your stance. “My world takes care of me” → Ask: What is my mirror currently reflecting… and what am I feeding it? Energy, Intention, and Mastery Your energy is your power source, and excess tension, unrealized intention, and internal toxins (emotional, mental, physical) drain it. The solution isn’t pushing harder. It’s being present. It’s focus without strain. Concentration without clenching. And most importantly : it’s doing what works for you. Not what works for others. Not what the pendulums say. What supports your freedom, health, joy, and peace. I don’t need to justify myself anymore. I just need to act with awareness, and keep going. What works is what you do consistently. So find what that is for you. “My world and I are off to buy a toy” → Ask: Am I acting from alignment… or from anxiety? Last Thoughts: You’ve made it to the end, but in Transurfing, endings are just new lifelines beginning. You are not broken. You are not behind. You are just waking up. The world is your mirror. Choose the version of yourself you want to become, hold the slide in your mind, and let reality do the rest. The next version of your life is already out there. It’s not about chasing it. It’s about tuning to it, calmly, clearly, and consistently. Start observing. Detach from the noise. Create your own rules. Choose your own goals. And most of all… give yourself full permission to live as the version of you who knows they’re already free. Surf well, P.S - This one was hard. I debated if I would be able to pass the informations of such a big book in a simple way without too much confusion or too many editions. I tried. How do you think I did? → Don’t obey the script. Write your own. Reality will follow.
- Reality Transurfing, Part 2 - The Hidden Forces That Shape Your Life
You already know: your thoughts shape reality. But now let’s go deeper. Explore the inner architecture of intention, energy, and how your relationships, health, and life experiences are shaped by invisible forces you may not even realize you're reacting to. And invisible forces might sound strange but remember the wind is one of them. The best part? You can learn to shift those forces. Energy: Where Everything Starts Your energy is the currency of creation. When you feel drained, unfocused, or anxious, it's not just mental noise, you're running low on free energy . That’s the part of your energy not consumed by stress, overthinking, or resistance, and it’s exactly what fuels intention. Zeland makes a bold point: If your intention is “to get better,” your energy is still focused on being ill. But when your intention is “to live healthy,” you align with a different version of reality, one where vitality is normal. And I can say for experience that, living healthy feels a lot lighter than betting better. What I learned from this? Preserve your energy and your body. Cut the noise. Rest, hydrate, walk outside. Say no to battles that aren’t yours. “You do not have to fight for your health or store up energy. Simply let it in.” → Ask: Am I fighting what I don’t want… or choosing what I do? Frailing: The Power of Letting Go Frailing is one of the most underrated ideas in Transurfing. It’s based on a universal truth: People want what they want, not what you want for them. So instead of trying to take, shift into giving. Instead of chasing love, give respect. Instead of pushing a product, help solve a problem. Letting go of the intention to get, and replacing it with the intention to give, unlocks a whole new level of freedom, and ironically, success. This way you also avoid becoming obsessed with the things you want. What I learned from this? Give without expectation. Admit mistakes without shame. Lead with presence, not persuasion or fear. “Abandon the intention of receiving; replace it with the intention of giving, and you will receive the very thing you gave up.” → Ask: Am I trying to force my will… or support theirs? Coordination: Choosing Your Lifeline Coordination is about emotional balance and conscious awareness. Things will go “wrong.” Scripts will change. But your reaction creates the next chapter. When you meet change with calm, you step onto a more positive lifeline. When you resist, fight, or spiral, you descend into chaos. And no, emotions are not super easy to control but with practice success is guaranteed. Here’s the key: Confidence is overrated. You don’t need to “feel” ready. You just need the will to have, and take it one step at a time. What I learned from this? Reframe negative events. Observe your scripts. Accept, and choose again. “I do not want or hope - I intend.” → Ask: What if this change is secretly good? Forward to the Past Most people try to win freedom by fighting their current reality. But freedom is found by ending the inner battle altogether. You don't have to justify, prove, or force anything. Just release tension, hold your slide (your ideal vision), and walk toward it with peace. Visualizing and your goal is enough, when your heart and mind are aligned you will feel it as if you have lived it, and that unlocks the energy of intention, without effort. What I learned from this? Let go of struggle. Play your slide daily. Live as if the future you want is already behind you… waiting to be remembered. “The Past Lies Just Ahead.” → Ask: What if this gets to be easier than I thought? Last Thoughts: This part of Transurfing is where things get real. It’s less about what reality is, and more about how to move through it with power, presence, and peace. You don’t have to control everything. Just lead with clarity and trust. Energy. Intention. Surrender. These are the quiet superpowers most people never learn to use. But now you can, and I would love it if you at least tried. The next version of your life already exists. Choose it. Go for it! → Let go. Give freely. See the good. Walk forward. See you in a week. Your Zine.
- Reality Transurfing, Part 1 - You Already Have the Power
I’ve read a couple of books on mindset, freedom, and transformation. But few shook me the way Reality Transurfing did and brought me to this question: What if the life you want is already out there, just waiting for you to choose it? Instead of pushing harder, grinding longer, or trying to “manifest” blindly, Reality Transurfing teaches us how to shift into the life we actually want, by understanding how reality itself behaves. Let’s begin with the foundation : Reality is not something you control or force into being. It's something you align with. Here are the key principles that cracked my brain open: The Alternatives Model The world is made up of an infinite field of possibilities. Every outcome you can imagine already exists, not in the future, but now. It’s not about creating reality; it’s about choosing which version you step into. Your thoughts emit energy. That energy tunes you to a specific version of reality, like tuning a radio. The stronger and more consistent your though are, the more you anchor into that version. So, your reality reflects the energy of your thoughts, not what you want, but what you think about. When you fear failure or obsess over outcomes, that’s what you’ll get. “The world is like a mirror. Smile at it, and it will smile back.” → Start observing the quality of your thoughts. What are you “tuning” to all day long? Doubt? Desperation? Certainty? Peace? Pendulums don’t care about you, it’s your energy. Pendulums are like invisible energetic forces that feed off attention. They can be personal (toxic relationships), collective (media outrage), or systemic (hustle culture). Choose carefully where you put your attention. They thrive on emotional energy. If you get triggered, reactive, or obsessive, a pendulum has hooked you. So you want to act purposefully, not just react. “The moment you stop reacting, the pendulum loses its power.” → Catch yourself when you’re overly emotional about something external. Ask: “Is this mine, or am I feeding a pendulum?” The Wave of Fortune When you detach from pendulums and align with your true path, you’ll start catching “waves of fortune”. Unexpected synchronicities, ease, and good luck. But it only happens when you’re in a state of inner calm and non-resistance. And most people are too distracted or rigid to notice when fortune appears… It always start with small things, like the beginning of a wave, so don’t miss them! “The wave of fortune is caught, not created.” → Start noticing small, fortunate shifts in your day. A smile. An idea. A coincidence. Balance & Excess Potential When you assign too much importance to something, a goal, a person, an outcome, you create excess potential. Life then creates opposing forces to rebalance things, usually through setbacks and by pushing the thing away from you. Everyone lives in their own version of the world. What you focus on literally builds your layer of reality. For some people this world is heaven, for others hell… And yes, this one is hard, it’s like taking care of yourself without worrying, but with practice everything is possible and remember the virtue is in the middle. “The more importance you place on something, the less likely you are to get it.” → Be chill about the things you want. Trust they’re already in motion. Practice calm desire. The Alternatives Flow Stop swimming upstream. Reality flows, and there’s always a path of least resistance. How do you follow it? Stay connected to your inner state. If you feel tense, you’re probably off-track. If you feel clear and calm, you’re flowing with the right current. This might not be obvious at first but it’s a must skill because when you focus too long on fear, conflict, or dissatisfaction, you slide into a worse version of your life. “When you go with the flow the world meets you halfway” → Several times a day, ask: “What’s my inner state right now?” Don’t fix it. Just notice. Intention > Willpower There are two kinds of intention in Transurfing: Inner intention = trying to control events.Outer intention = aligning with the version of reality where things already work. The most powerful shifts come not from willpower, but from cooperation with the universe. Outer intention works best when your heart and mind are in agreement. And it’s not about desire or wanting, is about the intention to have and accept you can. “Potential is only limited by intention” → Instead of asking “How do I make this happen?” Ask: “What version of me already has this, and what does she do differently?” Slides and Visualization Slides are like mental movies, imaginary scenes we replay over and over. Some are negative (“I’m not good enough”), others positive. Here’s the twist: Reality mirrors the slide you most often play. Most of us unconsciously play slides of lack or fear. Start playing ones where you’re already successful. Already free. Already at peace. “Allow yourself the luxury of deserving the absolute best.” → Design a 30-second scene that represents your ideal life. Play it in your head daily, not to force it, but to tune to it. The Heart and the Mind Most people live in conflict between the two, chasing what “makes sense” while ignoring what feels true. but they both have a purpose. The heart feels. The mind thinks. When your mind (logic) and heart (intuition) want the same thing, you create resonance. That resonance allows you to tap into outer intention and move toward your goals with less effort, like if it is natural to you. “The heart knows the path. The mind clears it.” → If a goal doesn’t feel exciting to your heart, it’s probably not aligned. Listen deeper. Goals and Doors Vadim Zeland says real goals feel effortless and meaningful. If you have to force every step, you might be walking through the wrong door. The right goals feel light. They energize you, not deplete you . The door you’re meant to walk through will open easily, but only if you stop banging on the wrong ones. “What is yours will come easily and bring joy.” → Ask: “What feels natural and energizing to me, even if it doesn’t look ‘ambitious’?” Last Thoughts: This isn’t theory. It’s a user manual for reality. You don’t have to “force” your life into greatness. You just have to stop fighting what’s not yours… and align with what already is. The more you observe, your thoughts, your energy, your emotional state, the more power you gain to change your life. Not by force. But by choosing with clarity and aligning with flow. You don’t need to create what already exists. Just need to choose it and accept it. I know this may sound woo-woo and a bunch of bull but I encourage you to at least try it because I did it and I can attest to a lot of this in just a few months. And if you ignore it, you won’t see it or feel it, let alone live it… remember our brain is not made to see the future, is made to comprehend the past. → Trust your path. You can only connect in the end. See you in a week. Your Zine.
